Intel recently unveiled an innovative new foundry business aimed at producing advanced chipsets to power the AI era.
The company highlighted the latest development in its IDM 2.0 strategy, which combines Intel’s internal chip design capability with its new Intel Foundry Services for external customers. This hybrid model allows Intel to optimize innovation across internal teams and foundry clients.
In his announcement at Intel Foundry Direct Connect, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger explained, “AI is profoundly transforming the world and how we think about technology and the silicon that powers it. Expanded Technology Roadmap
Intel has expanded its process technology roadmap by introducing Intel 14A to its leading-edge node timeline alongside specialized node advancements. The company reaffirmed its commitment to achieving a cadence of 5 nodes in 4 years, with Intel 18A slated for 2025 to regain process leadership.
The roadmap also encompasses optimizations for Intel 3, Intel 18A, and Intel 14A processes, including Intel 3-T featuring through-silicon vias for advanced 3D packaging. Furthermore, mature nodes are highlighted through joint development with UMC. The advancements give customers a pathway to enhance their offerings using Intel's cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.
