MISSION HILLS, CA and SANTA CLARA, CA – March 31, 2014 – UNICOM Systems, Inc., a Division of UNICOM Global, today announced that it has acquired the Data Management Software and Services assets from Memeo, Inc. in an all cash transaction. The acquisition includes innovative technology and the most robust, enterprise-grade Secure File Sharing solution in the industry, combined with an impressive array of engineering talent. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2003, Memeo is a Silicon Valley-based software company which has 22 million customers and has shipped over 70 million software licenses to more than 150 countries in 20 languages.
“Memeo is a strategic acquisition for UNICOM,” said Mr. Corry Hong, founder, president and CEO of UNICOM Global. “The talented team at Memeo has created the Memeo C1 solution to deliver Secure File Sharing in the Cloud or on-premise, with the enterprise-hardened tools to administer full security and audit capabilities businesses require. With demand exploding in businesses throughout the world to enable secure data access and collaboration, the Memeo C1 solution breaks away from consumer based approaches such as Dropbox or Box, to provide the real solution enterprises need.”
Founded in 1981, UNICOM Global is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing Enterprise software companies, serving the needs of the U.S. Federal, State and Local government, Fortune 500 and Global 2000 organizations. The Memeo acquisition builds on UNICOM’s formidable presence in California adding an additional location in Silicon Valley. UNICOM’s ability to innovate combined with the fertile technology solutions the Valley is renowned for will create many additional business opportunities.
The Memeo C1 solution features industry leading security, with end-to-end and at-rest encryption, to ensure compliance with important standards including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and SSAE 16 Type II encryption. The Memeo approach is to provide the software solution, rather than market commodity-based storage capacity, and was designed to be fully storage-solution agnostic. Supporting private, hybrid or public cloud solutions across all major platforms and devices, Memeo C1 was designed from the start to fulfill the business challenges of file sharing and collaboration.
In addition to the Memeo C1 solution, the acquisition also includes Memeo’s legacy Online Backup and Send products. As it has in all its previous acquisitions, UNICOM will continue to provide technical support and enhancements for all of the acquired products.
