UNICOM® Global Acquires IBM z17/IBM DS8A10 Storage Platform

Accelerates UNICOM’s Agentic AI Investments and Next-Generation Hyperscale Data Center Campus at Whitehouse Station, New Jersey

Mission Hills, CA - March 27, 2026 – UNICOM Global today announced the purchase of the next-generation IBM z17 and IBM DS8A10 enterprise storage platform, further strengthening the foundation of UNICOM’s hyperscale compute and infrastructure initiatives. The platform will be deployed at the UNICOM Science and Technology Park (USTP) in New Jersey as a core component of UNICOM’s next-generation Agentic AI data architecture.

“UNICOM Global continues to invest in the Generative QAI Modular Agents platform that power the global enterprise,” said Corry Hong, Founder, President and CEO of UNICOM Global. “This strategic investment reflects our commitment to agentic AI and advancing digital transformation at scale by integrating legacy systems with next-generation AI and hyperscale infrastructure. AI is only as powerful as the data it can access, and much of the world’s most valuable data remains on mainframe platforms. By combining IBM Z with our Agentic AI frameworks and UNIGW® GenQAI platform, we are enabling a new class of intelligent systems that operate across legacy and modern environments in real time.”

This investment reinforces UNICOM’s commitment to unlocking the value of legacy enterprise systems, where decades of mission-critical data reside across mainframe environments. As artificial intelligence and generative AI workloads increasingly depend on high-quality enterprise data, the IBM Z platform serves as both a system of record and a system of intelligence. UNICOM is uniquely positioned to bridge legacy and modern environments through its UNICOM® Universal Gateway (UNIGW®) platform, enabling real-time data orchestration, analytics, and AI-driven decisioning across IBM Z, IBM Power, and distributed systems.

The IBM z17 and DS8A10 platform will support UNICOM’s expanding Agentic AI initiatives, enabling autonomous orchestration of enterprise workflows, predictive analytics, and continuous optimization across complex IT environments. This platform deployment serves as a core foundation for UNICOM’s broader hyperscale strategy, including the development of a 1-gigawatt hyperscale data center campus at USTP. The 1,100-acre flagship site is designed to support Generative AI, Quantum Computing, Photonic Computing, IBM z/OS, IBM Power, and Linux/Unix multi-platform infrastructure, delivering secure, high-performance compute capabilities for U.S. Government, NASDAQ 100, and Global 2000 organizations.

UNICOM’s continued investment in IBM Z and enterprise storage technologies reflects its commitment to delivering resilient, secure, and scalable solutions that enable clients to modernize existing environments while accelerating adoption of AI, cloud, and next-generation computing architectures.

USTP currently houses six (6) data centers on campus and will expand to hyperscale facilities purpose-built for generative AI and quantum computing. The campus serves as UNICOM’s center of excellence for IBM mission-critical legacy systems - including IBM mainframe, IBM Power, and Linux/Unix platforms.
