There are a growing number of environmental regulations and standards that affect product manufacture, the import and export of products, and the disposal of waste and restricted substances.

  • UNICOM Engineering diligently monitors components and sub-assemblies used in our products to ensure they meet or exceed environmental regulatory requirements (hereafter “Regulations”).
  • All products supplied to UNICOM Engineering will comply with the latest version of the Regulations.
  • All suppliers of components, materials, modules, products or subassemblies, and packaging materials will review the UNICOM Engineering Environmental Specification when supplying any new product or revised product to UNICOM Engineering.
  • Suppliers will provide documentation to UNICOM Engineering in the written or electronic format requested for the Regulations bulleted below to demonstrate product compliance.

Product Compliance

UNICOM Engineering regularly monitors new releases or updates to Regulations. Periodically, we contact our Suppliers for compliance updates. Suppliers agree to provide compliance updates promptly when requested by UNICOM Engineering.

Suppliers will submit all completed declarations to regulatory.compliance@unicomengineering.com.

Other Requirements

Additional regulations that apply to electronics equipment are contained in the table below. UNICOM Engineering will contact suppliers related to these on an as-needed basis.

Region Regulation Description
EU 2012/19/EU WEEE Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) calls for producers to provide the information set out in Annex X on the national register of its member state. For branded products, the brand owner is expected to register. For unbranded products, the original equipment manufacturer provides the appropriate registrations. UNICOM Engineering provides the disassembly instructions for recycling.
EU 2001/19/EU DMF Directive prohibits products containing dimethylfumarate (DMF). This was primarily used in silica gel desiccants, which are not used by UNICOM Engineering.
